Quality of Life and the Presence of Depression Among Adults With Hair Loss in the South of Saudi Arabia

    The study in the Jazan region of Saudi Arabia involved 483 adults with perceived hair loss and found that 55.2% experienced moderate or high impacts on quality of life, affecting self-consciousness, clothing choices, and daily activities. Additionally, 61.9% showed high levels of depression, with symptoms like sleep disturbances and fatigue. Higher education, seeking medical care, and worsening hair loss were linked to greater quality of life impacts, while female gender, unemployment, and worsening hair loss were associated with higher depression levels. The study emphasized the significant mental health impact of hair loss, particularly among women, and recommended psychiatric consultation for those affected.
