TLDR Androgenetic alopecia has a minor effect on quality of life but can significantly impact self-esteem and social interactions for some people.
The study examined the impact of androgenetic alopecia on the quality of life in 120 patients seeking hair transplantation at a clinic in Kathmandu. The participants, aged 19 to 49 with a mean age of 31.87, were assessed using the dermatology quality of life index. The average score was 2.79, indicating a small overall effect on quality of life. However, 48.33% of patients reported self-consciousness as a significant issue, while only 3.33% experienced an impact on sexual activity. The study concluded that while androgenetic alopecia generally had a minor effect on quality of life, it could have a substantial psychological impact on certain individuals, affecting personal feelings and social interactions.
