TLDR Alopecia areata in Taif is common, mainly immune-related, and best treated with topical corticosteroids and vitamins.
The study on Alopecia areata (AA) in the Taif area, KSA, involving 1,600 participants (800 males and 800 females), found an equal prevalence of AA between genders. The localized type of AA was most common and responsive to treatment. The primary cause was autoimmune, with psychological and genetic factors also contributing. Topical corticosteroids were the most effective treatment, with a 70% response rate. The study recommended a vitamin-rich diet and topical rubefacient herbs to enhance treatment efficacy.
