TLDR miR-148a and miR-10a affect hair growth in Hu sheep.
This preliminary study on Hu sheep dermal papilla cells explored the roles of microRNAs miR-148a and miR-10a in hair follicle growth and development. It identified BMP7 as a target gene for both microRNAs, showing that they inhibited BMP7 expression at mRNA and protein levels. Overexpression of these microRNAs decreased dermal papilla cell proliferation, while inhibition increased it. The study also noted changes in Smad proteins and TGF-β expression, suggesting that miR-148a and miR-10a influenced hair follicle development through BMP7 regulation. These findings laid the groundwork for further research into the molecular mechanisms of hair follicle growth mediated by these microRNAs.
