TLDR Tianma Gouteng decoction may help prevent hair loss and promote hair growth.
The study investigates the effects of Tianma Gouteng decoction (TGD), a traditional Chinese medicine, on hair growth and alopecia. Using chemical analysis, systems biology, and experimental evaluation, the research identified 39 bioactive components in TGD, including quercetin, luteolin, fisetin, wogonin, oroxylin A, boldine, tetrahydroalstonine, and galangin, that could potentially treat hair loss. The study also identified GSK3β as a potential target for TGD treatment of alopecia, as it plays a key role in the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway, crucial for hair follicle development and regeneration. Experimental results from a murine model confirmed the efficacy of TGD in promoting hair growth. The study concluded that TGD has positive therapeutic anti-alopecia effects, making it a potential natural medicine for preventing hair loss.
