TLDR Extracts from Cercidiphyllum japonicum wood can stimulate mouse hair cell growth like common hair growth treatments.
The study from November 2002 found that the methanol extract from the heartwood of Cercidiphyllum japonicum had a stimulating effect on the proliferation of mouse hair epithelial cells, comparable to known hair growth agents such as minoxidil and procyanidin B-2. The research identified several compounds within the extract, including (+)-taxifolin, quercetin, myricetin, (+)-dihydromyricetin, and gallic acid, which all demonstrated significant proliferative activities on the hair epithelial cells.
