A Bibliometric Study of Scientific Literature in Scopus on Botanicals for Treatment of Androgenetic Alopecia

    This bibliometric study analyzed scientific literature in Scopus on botanicals for the treatment of androgenetic alopecia (AGA). The study found that there is a growing interest in this topic, with the majority of research articles published since 2000. The most commonly studied botanicals for AGA treatment were green tea extract (EGCG), Serenoa repens, Citrullus colocynthis, and Cuscuta reflexa. The study also found that laboratory studies and animal models suggest hair growth-promoting properties of these botanicals, but further investigations are necessary to determine their clinical safety and reliability. The study highlights the need for more research on natural products for AGA treatment.
