TLDR MSM reduces hair loss and promotes hair growth in male mice.
The study investigated the effects of Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) on hair growth in male Wister Albino mice. Twenty mice were divided into four groups: a control group, a Minoxidil-treated group, an MSM-treated group, and a group treated with both MSM and Minoxidil. Results showed that the groups receiving MSM, either alone or with Minoxidil, had significantly lower levels of 8-isoprastane and higher levels of vascular endothelial growth factor compared to the control group. Additionally, these groups exhibited increased hair growth, hair follicle expansion, and hair follicle numbers. The study concluded that MSM, due to its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, significantly reduces hair loss in male mice.
