TLDR Kombucha black tea with MSM can effectively promote hair growth and is a natural alternative for hair loss treatment.
This study investigated the hair re-growth properties of kombucha black tea and chamomile, with and without methylsulfonylmethane (MSM), on denuded Balb/c mice. The treatments were applied topically, and hair growth was observed over 15 and 30 days. Results indicated that kombucha black tea, both with and without MSM, significantly improved hair density and length compared to kombucha chamomile tea. MSM was found to significantly enhance hair growth when combined with kombucha ferments. Microbiological analysis identified Zygosaccharomyces bailii and Acetobacter genus in the tea broth. The study concluded that black tea kombucha with MSM could serve as a natural, cost-effective alternative therapy for hair loss with fewer side effects than synthetic drugs.
