TLDR Combining MSM with MAP significantly promotes hair growth.
The study investigated the effect of combining magnesium ascorbyl phosphate (MAP) with methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) on hair growth in C57BL/6N mice. Results showed that MAP 7.5% with MSM (5% or 10%) significantly promoted hair growth compared to MAP alone, with the 10% MSM group showing results comparable to minoxidil 5%. The study found that MSM enhanced the intradermal retention of MAP, leading to higher dermal accumulation, which likely contributed to the observed hair growth promotion. The findings suggested that MSM acted as a penetration enhancer, improving the efficacy of MAP in treating alopecia.
