TLDR Eating foods rich in vitamin D and iron helps prevent hair loss, while alcohol and sugary drinks can cause it.
This systematic review assessed the relationship between dietary factors and hair health, analyzing 17 studies with 61,332 participants, mostly women. It found that higher levels of vitamin D and iron are inversely related to alopecia, while increased consumption of alcoholic and sugary beverages is positively correlated with hair loss. The review concludes that diet and nutrition, particularly vitamin D and iron supplementation, are crucial for hair health, and suggests limiting alcohol and soft drinks. Further research is needed to confirm these findings.
