TLDR Broussonetia papyrifera extract helps hair growth by regulating specific proteins.
The study demonstrated that Broussonetia papyrifera promoted hair growth by regulating β-catenin and STAT6 target proteins. In vitro assays showed significant proliferation of human hair follicle dermal papilla (hHFDP) cells and increased luciferase activity. A clinical trial with 11 participants using a scalp tonic containing B. papyrifera for 12 weeks showed a significant increase in hair density and total hair count. The findings suggested that B. papyrifera could be a promising natural alternative for promoting hair growth.
