TLDR ADSC-Exos with miR-122-5p can help treat hair loss by promoting hair growth.
The study demonstrates that adipose mesenchymal stromal cell-derived exosomes (ADSC-Exos) carrying miR-122-5p can counteract the inhibitory effects of dihydrotestosterone (DHT) on hair follicles by targeting the TGF-β1/SMAD3 signaling pathway. ADSC-Exos promote hair follicle growth and dermal papilla cell (DPC) proliferation by down-regulating SMAD3, up-regulating β-catenin and versican, and restoring normal hair follicle function. These findings suggest that ADSC-Exos carrying miR-122-5p could be a promising treatment for androgenetic alopecia (AGA).
