Botulinum toxin A injections were found to improve trichoscopy findings in androgenetic alopecia, with hair serum causing fewer side effects. Weekly topical androgen-receptor siRNA reportedly raised hair counts, reaching 83% of finasteride's efficacy. A zinc-arginine topical lotion was shown to reduce shedding and increase anagen hairs. Natural products including saw palmetto and caffeine were reported as possibly helping male pattern loss. Adding fibroblast growth factor to minoxidil was found to outperform minoxidil alone, and PRP plus minoxidil beat minoxidil alone, with combination therapy raising density 32%. Oral vitamin D with minoxidil reportedly outperformed either alone in women, while PRP improved hair regardless of preparation. Oral bicalutamide was called an option for female pattern loss, and low-dose oral minoxidil a practical one, though each milligram raised hypertrichosis and cardiovascular-event risk. Dutasteride improved growth more than finasteride with similar adverse events, though retrospective; finasteride monitoring guidance found no breast-cancer link.
