Red and infrared photobiomodulation was found effective for androgenetic alopecia in a meta-analysis of 36 studies. Ropivacaine in tumescent anesthesia was reported to reduce postoperative pain after follicular unit excision without harming graft survival. A five-level Progressive Loss Risk Scale was proposed to help hair-transplant candidates weigh future loss against long-term cosmetic results. Androgenetic alopecia's psychosocial burden was found significant, impairing quality of life across 13 studies. Exosome therapy for alopecia was found supported mainly by preclinical work, with clinical efficacy and safety data lacking. Minoxidil nanoparticles in mice delivered 7.4-fold more drug to the hair bulge and grew more hair than standard solution. Hormone replacement therapy was reported not indicated for menopausal hair symptoms alone, though its wider benefits warrant discussion. Tofacitinib in children with alopecia areata produced response in about 81% of cases, with adverse effects reported as rare and mild, though the reviewed series covered only 64 children.
