Lichen Planopilaris
also LPP
Scarring hair loss from lichen planus of the scalp
Lichen planopilaris (LPP) is lichen planus of the scalp: an inflammatory condition in which immune cells attack the upper part of the hair follicle. It causes patchy scarring hair loss with redness and scale around the remaining hairs, and the follicles it destroys do not regrow. Frontal fibrosing alopecia is considered a form of it.
