Unilateral botulinum toxin A injections added to finasteride and minoxidil increased hair density versus the untreated side, with 77.5% response. Twice-weekly red low-level laser increased hair density by five weeks, with extra sessions adding no gain. A review of minimally invasive procedures found microneedling, mesotherapy and PRP supported as add-ons for female pattern hair loss, though evidence was low-quality and protocols unstandardized. In mice, the herbal supplement Shi-Bi-Man promoted hair regrowth through FGF signaling in dermal papilla cells. Oral baricitinib restored hair in alopecia areata across two phase 3 trials. Tofacitinib and corticosteroids showed similar SALT50 response in moderate-to-severe alopecia areata, with tofacitinib better tolerated and longer-standing episodes responding less.
