TLDR PRP and microneedling both effectively improve hair growth and thickness for treating hair loss.
This Phase I clinical trial evaluated the efficacy and safety of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections and microneedling for treating androgenetic alopecia (AGA) in 40 participants aged 18 to 50. The study found that both PRP injections and microneedling significantly improved hair count and thickness, with PRP injections increasing hair count by 62.4% and thickness by 58.6%, while microneedling increased hair count by 88.4% and thickness by 51.3%. Although both methods showed significant improvements, there were no statistically significant differences between the two groups. The study concludes that PRP is a viable treatment for AGA, with microneedling enhancing patient satisfaction and treatment tolerance.
