TLDR Microneedling with PRP is a safe and effective way to treat chronic alopecia areata, improving hair regrowth with minimal side effects.
The study, which included 25 patients with chronic and stable alopecia areata, demonstrated that microneedling with autologous platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a safe and effective treatment. Conducted over a 12-week period with a 9-month follow-up, the treatment resulted in a significant decrease in Severity of Alopecia Tool (SALT) scores and an increase in hair regrowth. By the end of the study, 60.9% of patients showed clinical improvement, and there was only one relapse reported at the 9-month follow-up, with no major side effects noted.
