Poly-D,L-Lactic Acid Filler Restores Hair Thickness and Shine by Ameliorating Age-Associated Follicular Decline

    The study explores the effects of poly-D,L-lactic acid (PDLLA) filler on age-related hair thinning and loss of shine, focusing on its ability to counteract follicular decline. PDLLA filler, known for its antioxidant properties, was shown to reduce oxidative stress and improve cell function in both in vitro and in vivo experiments. In aged mice, PDLLA filler enhanced dermal papilla cell proliferation, increased IGF-1 expression, and improved hair follicle keratin expression, leading to better hair thickness and shine. The treatment also improved sebaceous gland function, contributing to increased hair reflectivity. These findings suggest that PDLLA filler could be a promising intervention for combating age-related hair deterioration, although further human clinical trials are needed to confirm its efficacy and safety.
