TLDR Higher IGF-1 levels in hair follicles link to better finasteride results for hair loss.
This study from 19 years ago investigated the correlation between the expression of insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) in follicular dermal papillae and the therapeutic efficacy of finasteride in androgenetic alopecia. The study found that the expression of IGF-1 in follicular dermal papillae was significantly higher in responders to finasteride treatment compared to non-responders. This suggests that IGF-1 may play a role in the therapeutic efficacy of finasteride in androgenetic alopecia. However, further studies are needed to confirm these findings.
