TLDR Laser therapy shows promise for hair loss but lacks strong evidence due to limited studies.
Recent advancements in laser technologies have increased interest in using laser therapy for androgenetic alopecia (AGA). Low-level laser therapy (LLLT) and fractional laser therapies are considered safe and effective alternatives to traditional drug therapies, which often have unwanted side effects. These therapies may stimulate hair follicles by improving vascularization, modulating inflammation, and promoting growth signaling. However, while studies show improvements in AGA markers, the evidence is limited by small sample sizes and potential biases. The efficacy of laser therapy for AGA is not fully supported due to the lack of large-scale, high-quality clinical trials and variability in devices and treatment protocols.
