TLDR Finasteride helps protect brain in old male rats.
The study investigated the potential neuroprotective effects of the 5α-reductase inhibitor finasteride against ischemic brain injury in aged male rats. The results showed that finasteride treatment reduced infarct volume and improved neurological function in the rats. The study suggests that finasteride may have potential as a therapeutic agent for ischemic brain injury.
