TLDR Dosing time affects finasteride's effectiveness and safety in rats.
This study investigated the effects of dosing time on the efficacy and safety of finasteride, a drug used to treat hair loss and prostate enlargement, in rats. The researchers found that dosing time influenced the drug's effects on serum androgen concentrations, with dosing at 3 HALO significantly decreasing DHT concentrations throughout a 24-hour period. However, the suppressive effects were transient in 15 HALO groups. The study also found that high-dose finasteride treatment for two weeks significantly reduced prostate weight regardless of dosing time, but mild abnormalities of hepatic biochemical parameters were detected only after dosing during the first half of the light period. The study provides evidence that dosing time can influence the effects of finasteride.
