TLDR Henna significantly promotes hair growth and reduces androgen levels in mice with alopecia.
The study investigated the therapeutic effects of Impatiens balsamina, Lawsonia inermis L., and Henna on androgenetic alopecia in C57BL/6 mice. Forty-eight male mice were divided into six groups, including a control group and a minoxidil group. The mice were treated with testosterone propionate to induce alopecia and then received topical applications of the respective treatments for 35 days. Results showed that all tested drugs promoted hair growth, with Henna showing the most significant effect, resulting in the highest hair density and a color change in the skin. Impatiens balsamina and Henna significantly reduced testosterone and dihydrotestosterone levels in the skin, suggesting their therapeutic effect might be due to lowering local androgen content.
