Effects of Gyungohkgo-Gamibang Extract on Hair Growth and Protein Expression in Mice

The study investigated the effects of Gyungohkgo-gamibang extract (YNS-10) on hair growth and protein expression in C57BL/6 mice with alopecia. Mice were divided into three groups: normal (vehicle), YNS-10, and 5% minoxidil-treated. The treatments were applied daily for 3 weeks, and hair growth was monitored. Both YNS-10 and minoxidil significantly increased hair density and thickness by approximately 200-220% compared to the vehicle. Additionally, the expression of growth factors IGF-1 and VEGF was significantly up-regulated in the YNS-10 and minoxidil groups. The results suggested that YNS-10 effectively stimulated hair growth and could be a potential ingredient for hair tonic and restoration products.
