TLDR Minoxidil helps hair regrowth in alopecia patients, with 16 having good results and no side effects.
The study found that 1% topical minoxidil produced a significant incidence of hair regrowth in patients with alopecia areata and alopecia totalis, with a cosmetically acceptable response noted in 16 patients. No side effects were seen. The treatment appears to be relatively safe with no topical or systemic side effects, but those with more severe and extensive alopecia areata have a worse response to the treatment.
