TLDR Using stem cells from hair follicles to treat female hair loss is safe and effective after six months.
The study evaluated the effectiveness of autologous cell micrografts (ACMs) treatment, derived from human hair follicles, in 23 women with Androgenetic alopecia (AGA). Six months after a single injection of ACMs, significant improvement in hair condition was observed. The change in visual analog scale (VAS) scores was moderately negatively correlated with baseline ferritin concentration and positively with iron concentration. Improved outcomes were associated with higher baseline levels of sex hormone-binding globulin and 17α-hydroxyprogesterone. Neither testosterone nor DHT showed a significant correlation with VAS scores. The study concluded that the ACM procedure is safe, effective, and yielded satisfying results six months after a single treatment session.
