TLDR PRP therapy helps skin heal and improve by promoting cell growth and repair.
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy in dermatology shows significant promise due to its regenerative effects and favorable safety profile. It is particularly effective in treating hair loss, promoting hair growth by enhancing angiogenesis, hair follicle cell proliferation, and prolonging the anagen phase. PRP also benefits skin conditions like melasma, vitiligo, and lichen sclerosus by reducing melanin synthesis, stimulating collagen production, and promoting melanocyte regeneration. The therapy's mechanisms include cellular proliferation, matrix formation, inflammation regulation, and tissue remodeling. While PRP's efficacy is well-supported, further randomized clinical trials are needed to fully understand and optimize its use in dermatology.
