TLDR Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is effective in treating various skin conditions and improving hair density, thickness, and patient satisfaction, with lower relapse rates for Alopecia Areata.
Three years ago, a review titled "Progress in the Use of Platelet-rich Plasma in Aesthetic and Medical Dermatology" discussed the use of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) in treating various dermatological conditions. PRP, a biological product derived from the plasma fraction of autologous blood, was found to be effective in skin rejuvenation, androgenic alopecia, alopecia areata, chronic vitiligo, melasma, inflammatory nail disorders, and psoriasis. PRP treatments showed improvements in hair density, thickness, and patient satisfaction. For Alopecia Areata, PRP injections had significantly lower relapse rates compared to traditional therapies. However, more detailed studies were suggested to standardize PRP preparation and optimize treatment methods.
