TLDR Para rubber seed oil is a safe and effective treatment for hair loss.
The study assessed the potential of standardized para rubber seed oil for hair loss treatment. The oil, rich in oleic, linoleic, palmitic, and stearic acids, was tested for safety and efficacy on human dermal papilla cells and DU-145 human prostate carcinoma cells. It was found to be safe at concentrations of 0.1-50 µg/mL and 0.1-100 µg/mL, respectively. The oil stimulated cell proliferation and exhibited antioxidant activity comparable to minoxidil, dutasteride, and vitamin C. Additionally, it inhibited 5α-reductase, though less effectively than the standards. The findings suggested that para rubber seed oil could be a safe and effective bio-material for stimulating hair growth and reducing hair loss.
