TLDR Oxyresveratrol promotes hair growth and may help treat hair loss.
The study explores the effects of oxyresveratrol (ORV) on hair regeneration, particularly in human dermal papilla cells and an androgenetic alopecia (AGA) mouse model. ORV, known for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, significantly increased cell proliferation, reduced DKK1 expression, and upregulated β-catenin, promoting hair growth. It also inhibited pro-inflammatory cytokines under oxidative stress. In the AGA mouse model, ORV, especially when combined with minoxidil, accelerated hair growth and improved hair follicle conditions, showing effectiveness comparable to minoxidil alone. These findings suggest ORV as a promising candidate for alopecia treatment, with further clinical studies needed to confirm its safety and efficacy in humans.
