TLDR Finasteride does not cause sexual dysfunction in men with hair loss.
The study surveyed 762 men (663 finasteride users and 99 non-users) using a modified Arizona Sexual Experience Scale (ASEX) to assess sexual dysfunction. Results showed no significant differences in sexual dysfunction between finasteride users and non-users. Regression analysis indicated that self-reported libido loss and reduced sexual performance, rather than finasteride use, predicted higher ASEX scores. The study concluded that finasteride use did not cause sexual dysfunction in men with androgenetic alopecia, aligning with findings from other large survey-based studies.

A user started taking finasteride for hair loss and asked about its effects, the use of Tretinoin for hair growth, the right time to start minoxidil, and the effectiveness of microneedling. The responses advised patience with finasteride, suggested minoxidil as a last resort, doubted microneedling's help with finasteride, and stated no need for microneedling with Tretinoin.

The individual is using oral minoxidil and finasteride to treat androgenetic alopecia with good results but is considering stopping due to concerns about long-term effects on the heart and potential hair dependency on the medication. They are also contemplating the impact of hair loss on gender dysphoria and considering the use of wigs as an alternative.
