TLDR Finasteride caused long-term sexual and non-sexual side effects in young men with hair loss.
This study evaluated 79 young men who experienced long-term adverse effects after using finasteride for androgenetic alopecia. The study found that these men experienced persistent sexual and non-sexual side effects for at least 6 months after discontinuing the drug. The most frequent sexual symptoms referred were loss of penis sensitivity, decreased ejaculatory force, and low penile temperature. The most frequent non-sexual symptoms were reduced feeling of life pleasure or emotions (anhedonia), lack of mental concentration, and loss of muscle tone/mass. The study highlights the need for more information on the safety profile of finasteride in the treatment of AGA.
