TLDR Dermal sheath cells play a key role in wound healing and could impact fibrosis.
This review highlights the significant yet underexplored role of dermal sheath cells in wound healing, emphasizing their multifunctional contributions to inflammation modulation, proliferation, and extracellular matrix remodeling. It underscores the paracrine effects of these cells and their potential impact on fibrosis, particularly in distinguishing between hairy and non-hairy skin sites. By linking dermal sheath cell activity to wound healing outcomes, the review offers new insights into tissue regeneration and repair mechanisms, advancing our understanding of the wound healing process.
