The study explores the efficacy of Periplaneta americana (L.) extract (PA-011) in treating androgenetic alopecia (AGA) using a mouse model. It involved 65 C57BL/6J mice and demonstrated that PA-011, particularly at a 4% concentration, significantly promotes hair growth, reduces oxidative stress, and decreases inflammation. The extract activates key pathways like Wnt/β-catenin, PI3K-Akt, and MAPK, modulates skin microbiota, and enhances the expression of growth factors such as VEGF. Safety assessments confirmed that PA-011 is safe for topical use, showing no systemic toxicity or allergic reactions. The findings suggest that PA-011 could be a promising therapeutic agent for AGA, with effects comparable to minoxidil, although further research is needed to confirm these effects in humans.
