Efficacy and Safety of Oral Minoxidil 5 mg Once Daily in the Treatment of Male Patients with Androgenetic Alopecia: An Open-Label and Global Photographic Assessment

    TLDR Oral minoxidil 5 mg daily increases hair growth safely in men with hair loss, with minor side effects.
    The study evaluated the efficacy and safety of oral minoxidil 5 mg once daily in male patients with androgenetic alopecia (AGA). The results showed that oral minoxidil significantly increased hair growth, with a mean change in total hair counts +19.23% from baseline at week 24. Global photographic assessment revealed 100% improvement, with 43% of patients showing excellent improvement. The study concluded that low-dose oral minoxidil can be considered a safe treatment for male AGA in healthy subjects, with only minor side effects of hypertrichosis (93%) and pedal edema (10%).
