Evaluation of Long-Term Efficacy of Finasteride in Korean Men with Androgenetic Alopecia Using the Basic and Specific Classification System

The study evaluated the long-term efficacy of finasteride in Korean men with androgenetic alopecia (AGA) using the Basic and Specific (BASP) classification system. The study found that finasteride 1 mg showed a sustainable effect for at least 5 years in Korean male AGA patients, with the V type of AGA responding better and more rapidly to finasteride compared to the other types. The study also analyzed the female pattern hair loss in male patients, which has gained less attention thus far and is thought to occupy a much higher proportion of the Asian population than the Caucasian population. The study suggests that the data will be helpful to clinicians in treating AGA patients.
