TLDR Injectable treatments can effectively and safely improve hair growth in adults with androgenetic alopecia.
The systematic review assessed the effectiveness of minimally invasive injectable treatments for androgenetic alopecia (AGA) in adults, analyzing 16 studies, including 12 randomized controlled trials. Treatments like dutasteride, QR678, botulinum toxin, HSC formulations, minoxidil, and carboxytherapy showed significant improvements in hair growth and patient satisfaction, with QR678 demonstrating notable efficacy in both male and female alopecia. Adverse effects were generally mild. Despite variations in study design and high heterogeneity (I2 = 0.88), the review supports these treatments as promising options for AGA management, though further high-quality studies are needed to confirm their long-term efficacy and safety.
