TLDR Caffeine is beneficial for skin and hair treatments but needs better delivery methods to penetrate deeper skin layers.
Caffeine, known for its stimulating effects, has versatile properties beneficial in both cosmetics and pharmaceuticals, particularly for anti-aging and hair loss treatments like androgenic alopecia. It possesses antioxidant properties and can enhance UV blockers' effectiveness. However, its penetration into deeper skin layers remains a challenge, potentially addressable by nanosized delivery systems. This review highlights caffeine's nutraceutical value in nutricosmetics, emphasizing its advantages over other bioactives and its significant benefits in treating skin disorders and promoting skin health.
