January 2013 in “PubMed” This study compared the efficacy of topical minoxidil 5% and adenosine 0.75% on male androgenetic alopecia in 110 male patients. After excluding 16 patients due to allergic reactions or loss to follow-up, the remaining participants were divided into two groups: one receiving minoxidil and the other adenosine. After 3 and 6 months, the relative recovery rates were not significantly different between the groups, and no patients achieved complete recovery. However, patient satisfaction was significantly higher in the adenosine group due to faster prevention of hair loss and the appearance of new hair. The study concluded that while adenosine did not show statistical superiority over minoxidil in recovery rates, it resulted in higher patient satisfaction. Further studies with larger sample sizes or different dosages were recommended.
