Case Study of Hair Regrowth with Topical Cannabidiol

    Gregory L. Smith, John Satino
TLDR Daily use of CBD-rich hemp oil significantly increased hair growth in people with hair loss.
A study involving 35 subjects (28 men and 7 women) with androgenetic alopecia (AGA) found that daily topical application of a CBD-rich hemp oil resulted in a significant 93.5% increase in nonvellus hair after 6 months, with men and the vertex area showing slightly better results. The study suggested that CBD likely functions as a CB1 receptor antagonist and may also involve Wnt signaling, contributing to hair regrowth. No adverse effects were reported, and the results were comparable to those of finasteride and 5% minoxidil, indicating potential for synergistic use with these treatments.

community Efficacy and Systemic DHT Suppression of Topical Finasteride vs Dutasteride

in General  83 upvotes 2 days ago
Topical dutasteride may have limited absorption due to its higher molecular mass compared to finasteride, potentially affecting its efficacy in suppressing DHT locally. Microneedling might enhance dutasteride absorption, possibly offering stronger local DHT suppression with fewer systemic effects.

The user started using topical finasteride 0.025% and minoxidil 5% twice daily, seeing initial improvement but later experiencing shedding and scalp pain. They are considering increasing the finasteride dose to 0.05% while using keto shampoo and dermarolling, and are debating the effectiveness of low versus standard doses of finasteride.
