Scientific Evidence for the Cosmetic Skin and Hair Benefits of Hemp-Derived Cannabinoids: A Review

Cannabinoids derived from hemp, known as phytocannabinoids, are promising cosmetic ingredients for skin and hair due to their unique mechanisms of action, which involve interacting with specific receptors in hair and skin cells to modulate cellular processes. Unlike THC, they do not produce psychoactive effects. This review summarizes various in vitro, in vivo, and human studies that demonstrate the therapeutic and cosmetic benefits of cannabinoids. Additionally, it addresses formulation challenges, legal requirements, and regulatory considerations for incorporating these compounds into cosmetic products.
