TLDR Enzyme booster SULT1A1 greatly enhances hair regrowth with minoxidil.
A study involving multiple doctors and medical centers from around the world found that using an enzyme booster called SULT1A1 along with topical minoxidil significantly improved hair regrowth in individuals with hair loss. Boosting the SULT1A1 enzyme, responsible for metabolizing minoxidil, significantly improves the response to topical minoxidil for hair regrowth. Minoxidil is the only topical drug approved by the US FDA to regrow hair, but has a low efficacy rate, with only approximately 35% of subjects regrowing hair after 16 weeks of use in clinical trials. The study was not funded and study materials were provided at no cost by Applied Biology, Inc.
