TLDR Topical zinc-thymulin is safe and effective for treating male pattern baldness.
The study assessed the safety and efficacy of topical zinc-thymulin (ZT) for treating androgenetic alopecia (AGA) in 18 adults (17 males, 1 female) aged 35-90 years. Over 3,300 treatment days, ZT showed no adverse effects and no drug interactions with concurrent minoxidil or finasteride use. Significant hair growth improvements were observed after 6 months, with increases in vellus (32%) and intermediate (23%) hairs, and melanogenesis in several subjects. The study concluded that ZT is safe and effective for initiating and maintaining anagen in male pattern baldness when used for more than 6 months.
