These hairs are typically found in areas undergoing a transition, such as during puberty or in certain stages of hair growth cycles, and they exhibit characteristics of both vellus and terminal hairs. For example, they may be longer and more pigmented than vellus hairs but not as coarse or dark as terminal hairs.
