Effect of Minoxidil on Hair Transplantation in Androgenetic Alopecia

TLDR Minoxidil may help reduce early hair loss after a hair transplant.
The study involved 40 patients with androgenetic alopecia who underwent hair transplantation. Half of the patients were instructed to apply 2% minoxidil twice daily, while the other half only shampooed their hair. The results indicated that minoxidil did not affect the percentage of hair survival before and after transplantation. However, 60% of the grafts in patients using minoxidil experienced no initial postoperative hair shedding, suggesting a potential benefit in reducing early hair loss post-transplant.
