January 1988 in “YAKUGAKU ZASSHI” The study investigated the effects of 50% ethanol extracts from 14 crude drugs on hair regrowth in mice with removed abdominal hair. It found that extracts from Polygonum multiflorum (I), Drynaria fortunei (II), Panax japonicum (VII), and Swertia japonica (XI) promoted hair regrowth in normal mice. Additionally, extracts I and VII were effective in mice pretreated with a high butter diet. These findings suggested that extracts I and VII could be used as hair tonics to promote hair regrowth.

November 2000 in “Archives of Dermatology” The study investigated the histologic changes in the skin of hairless mice after applying salicylic acid solutions at concentrations of 7.5%, 15.0%, and 30.0% for 20 minutes. The solutions were prepared in either ethanol or macrogol. The skin was examined immediately and at intervals of 1, 3, 12, 24, and 48 hours post-treatment. The research aimed to understand the effects of salicylic acid used in chemical peeling, which was known to be effective without causing wounds or inflammation.
