Optimization of Pomegranate Leaf Extract Shampoo Formula Using Simplex Lattice Design Method

    This study optimized an anti-dandruff shampoo formula using ethanol extract from pomegranate leaves, known for their antifungal properties. Using the Simplex Lattice Design method, 8 formulas were tested, and the optimal formula contained 5.5% SLS and 15.5% cocamide DEA. The resulting shampoo had a black color, menthol odor, gel form, and homogeneous mixture, with foam stability of 81.83%, foam height of 9.30 ± 0.26 cm, pH of 5.91 ± 0.45, and viscosity of 1646.66 ± 220.23 cP. The extract's antifungal efficacy is supported by the presence of alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, and saponins.
