Thyroid Hormone Receptor Agonist Promotes Hair Growth in Mice

    TLDR TDM10842, a thyroid hormone receptor activator, was found to effectively promote hair growth in mice.
    The study involved 45 female mice and investigated the effects of TDM10842, a thyroid hormone receptor agonist, on hair growth. The TDM group showed significant hair growth, larger hair bulbs, and increased expression of Ki-67, a cell proliferation marker. The pathway enrichment of the TDM group was mainly reflected in the cell cycle, cell senescence, and Wnt signaling pathway. TDM10842 was found to accelerate the hair cycle transition from telogen to anagen and promote the expression of PCLAF, a molecule involved in the activation of Wnt/beta-catenin and Hedgehog signaling pathways. Cyclin D1, a protein that controls cell cycle progression, was positively regulated by PCLAF and played a significant role in promoting hair growth. The study suggests potential use of TDM10842 for treating hair loss conditions such as androgenetic alopecia, alopecia areata, and telogen effluvium.
